Designer-plasticienne, M\u00e9lanie Hilaire d\u00e9veloppe une pratique \u00e0 la crois\u00e9e du design et des arts plastiques, qui explore les enjeux sociaux et territoriaux \u00e0 travers le dessin, le graphisme, le jeu et la cr\u00e9ation d\u2019objets. Elle m\u00e8ne \u00e9galement une pratique collective au sein du collectif Millemains, avec Sol\u00e8ne Chartier et Jado Herbert, o\u00f9 elle con\u00e7oit des projets artistiques contextuels en lien avec les territoires et leurs habitant-es.<\/span><\/p>

Invit\u00e9e en r\u00e9sidence \u00e0 Gilbard pendant trois semaines, M\u00e9lanie Hilaire a port\u00e9 son attention sur la rue de Liverpool et les usages, r\u00e9cits et repr\u00e9sentations qui lui sont associ\u00e9s. Elle a d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 une d\u00e9marche de cartographie sensible, con\u00e7ue comme un outil de rencontre et de collecte de r\u00e9cits. \u00c0 travers un dispositif mobile en forme de voiture, les habitant-es \u00e9taient invit\u00e9-es \u00e0 r\u00e9pondre \u00e0 diff\u00e9rentes questions li\u00e9es \u00e0 leurs exp\u00e9riences du quartier, puis \u00e0 traduire leurs souvenirs et perceptions par le dessin, le d\u00e9coupage et le pastel.<\/span><\/p>

Cette d\u00e9marche a permis de faire \u00e9merger une cartographie collective et subjective de la rue de Liverpool, construite \u00e0 partir des exp\u00e9riences et des regards de celles et ceux qui la fr\u00e9quentent.<\/span><\/p>

Als designer en beeldend kunstenaar ontwikkelt M\u00e9lanie Hilaire een praktijk op het kruispunt van design en beeldende kunst. Ze onderzoekt sociale en territoriale vraagstukken aan de hand van tekeningen, grafische vormgeving, spel en objectcreatie. Daarnaast werkt ze collectief binnen het collectief Millemains, samen met Sol\u00e8ne Chartier en Jado Herbert, waar ze contextuele artistieke projecten ontwikkelt in dialoog met gebieden en hun bewoners.<\/span><\/p>

Tijdens een residentie van drie weken bij Gilbard richtte M\u00e9lanie Hilaire haar aandacht op de Liverpoolstraat en op de gebruiken, verhalen en representaties die ermee verbonden zijn. Ze ontwikkelde een methode van \u2018gevoelsmatige cartografie\u2019, opgevat als een instrument om mensen te ontmoeten en verhalen te verzamelen. Via een mobiel voertuig in de vorm van een auto werden buurtbewoners uitgenodigd om verschillende vragen te beantwoorden over hun ervaringen in de wijk en vervolgens hun herinneringen en percepties te vertalen in tekeningen, knipwerk en pastelkrijt.<\/span><\/p>

Deze aanpak maakte het mogelijk om een collectieve en subjectieve kaart van de Liverpoolstraat te laten ontstaan, opgebouwd vanuit de ervaringen en perspectieven van de mensen die er wonen, werken of komen.<\/span><\/p>

As a designer and visual artist, M\u00e9lanie Hilaire develops a practice at the intersection of design and visual arts, exploring social and territorial issues through drawing, graphic design, play and object creation. She also works collectively within the Millemains collective, alongside Sol\u00e8ne Chartier and Jado Herbert, where she develops context-specific artistic projects in dialogue with places and their inhabitants.<\/span><\/p>

During a three-week residency at Gilbard, M\u00e9lanie Hilaire focused her attention on Liverpool Street and the uses, stories and representations associated with it. She developed an approach based on sensitive mapping, conceived as a tool for meeting people and collecting stories. Through a mobile car-shaped installation, local residents were invited to respond to different questions about their experiences of the neighbourhood, and then to translate their memories and perceptions through drawing, paper cutting and pastel.<\/span><\/p>

This process led to the emergence of a collective and subjective map of Liverpool Street, built from the experiences and perspectives of the people who live in, work in or use the area.<\/span><\/p>

Elle a d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 une d\u00e9marche de cartographie sensible, con\u00e7ue comme un outil de rencontre et de collecte de r\u00e9cits. \u00c0 travers un dispositif mobile en forme de voiture, les habitant-es \u00e9taient invit\u00e9-es \u00e0 r\u00e9pondre \u00e0 diff\u00e9rentes questions li\u00e9es \u00e0 leurs exp\u00e9riences du quartier, puis \u00e0 traduire leurs souvenirs et perceptions par le dessin, le d\u00e9coupage et le pastel.<\/span><\/p>

Tijdens een residentie van drie weken bij Gilbard richtte M\u00e9lanie Hilaire haar aandacht op de Liverpoolstraat en op de gebruiken, verhalen en representaties die ermee verbonden zijn. Ze ontwikkelde een methode van \u2018gevoelsmatige cartografie\u2019, opgevat als een instrument om mensen te ontmoeten en verhalen te verzamelen. As a designer and visual artist, M\u00e9lanie Hilaire develops a practice at the intersection of design and visual arts, exploring social and territorial issues through drawing, graphic design, play and object creation. During a three-week residency at Gilbard, M\u00e9lanie Hilaire focused her attention on Liverpool Street and the uses, stories and representations associated with it. She developed an approach based on sensitive mapping, conceived as a tool for meeting people and collecting stories. Through a mobile car-shaped installation, local residents were invited to respond to different questions about their experiences of the neighbourhood, and then to translate their memories and perceptions through drawing, paper cutting and pastel.<\/span><\/p>

This process led to the emergence of a collective and subjective map of Liverpool Street, built from the experiences and perspectives of the people who live in, work in or use the area.<\/span><\/p>
