Depuis le 19 janvier, Léo Gillet, artiste peintre et illustrateur, s’est approprié le SAS de Gilbard afin de fournir une exposition haute en couleurs.
Sa pratique s’inscrit dans un récit fragmenté, ultra coloré et généreux se présentant sous forme d’illustration, de bande dessinée, de sculpture ou encore de tapis. Il tente à travers son travail de révéler le charme d’une certaine banalité en explorant son environnement et en abordant des thèmes comme la nature, le folklore, la fête, la maladresse, le jeu ou encore le kitch.
Pour s’emparer du SAS, il a imaginé et créé un passe tête géant basé sur les objets trouvés et recensés à Gilbard et ses alentours. Créant ainsi un documentaire de zoom dessiné.
Son inspiration a été tirée de Gilbard et de son fourmillement qui pouvait exister en son lieu.
L'œuvre représente cet espace qui lie lieu de rencontre, de passage, et où il existe une abondance de matériaux aux couleurs et formes variées entourées de créations et expérimentations artistiques. Afin de lier son œuvre au public, Léo Gillet était également présent le vendredi 02 février lors d’un atelier peinture. Où, petits et grands, ont pu peindre leur propre passe-tête et ainsi s’imprégner de son univers.

Sinds 19 januari neemt schilder en illustrator Léo Gillet de SAS de Gilbard over voor een kleurrijke tentoonstelling.
Zijn werk maakt deel uit van een gefragmenteerd, ultrakleurrijk en genereus verhaal in de vorm van illustraties, stripverhalen, sculpturen en tapijten. Met zijn werk probeert hij de charme van een zekere banaliteit bloot te leggen door zijn omgeving te verkennen en thema's als natuur, folklore, feest, onhandigheid, spel en kitsch aan te snijden.
Om vat te krijgen op SAS, bedacht en creëerde hij een gigantische hoofdband op basis van voorwerpen die hij vond en inventariseerde in Gilbard en omgeving. Zo creëerde hij een zoomdocumentaire.
Zijn inspiratie kwam van Gilbard en de drukte die daar te vinden is.
Het werk verbeeldt een ruimte waar mensen elkaar ontmoeten en passeren, waar een overvloed aan materialen is in een verscheidenheid aan kleuren en vormen, omgeven door artistieke creatie en experiment. Om zijn werk in contact te brengen met het publiek, was Léo Gillet op vrijdag 02 februari ook aanwezig voor een schilderworkshop. Jong en oud konden hun eigen passe-tête schilderen en zich onderdompelen in zijn wereld.

Since January 19, painter and illustrator Léo Gillet has taken over Gilbard’s SAS to create a vibrant, colourful exhibition.
His practice is rooted in a fragmented, highly colourful and generous narrative, expressed through illustration, comics, sculpture and even rugs. Through his work, he seeks to reveal the charm of a certain kind of everyday banality by exploring his surroundings and addressing themes such as nature, folklore, celebration, clumsiness, play and kitsch.
For the SAS, he imagined and created a giant face-in-the-hole board based on objects found and catalogued at Gilbard and in its surroundings, creating a kind of illustrated zoom-in documentary.
His inspiration came from Gilbard and the constant activity and movement that takes place there. The work represents this space as a meeting point and a place of passage, where an abundance of materials in a wide variety of colours and shapes coexist with artistic creations and experiments.
To connect his work with the public, Léo Gillet was also present on Friday, February 2, for a painting workshop. Children and adults alike were able to paint their own face-in-the-hole board and immerse themselves in his artistic universe.
